Mark your calendar! Christmas Double Feature Weekend is coming soon!

Looking for a fun way to kick off the Christmas season?! We’re offering not one, but two unique opportunities to enjoy some holiday spirit!

On Friday, December 1st, join us from 6pm-9pm at Historic Bear’s Mill Preserve for our Candlelight Walk Open House. Once you arrive, follow the luminaries to the festivities. There will be live music inside the mill, featuring Joseph Helfrich. Enjoy hotdogs over an open fire, hot chocolate, coffee, water and popcorn to warm yourself up on this early December night. Explore the mill while reading the storybook trail on your way up to the 4th floor. The Bear’s Mill store will be open that evening for holiday shopping.

Registration is NOT required for Candlelight Walk Open House: However, Parking is very limited and we ask that you carpool if possible.

On Saturday, December 2nd, continue the holiday fun at Shawnee Prairie Preserve from 6pm-9pm for Walkin’ in a Winter Wonderland. Wander along the (hopefully) snow-covered trails as you follow over 600+ candle-lit lanterns leading you to the Log House. In and around the Log House, warm yourself by the fire, visit with our pioneer volunteers, and enjoy a seasonal treat! Keep an eye out for the blue "Will o Wisps" leading you to the popular "Woodland Spirits" trail. The Nature Center will host a child’s craft and gingerbread cookie decorating, as well as a meet & greet with Santa! Chetter Butts food truck will be on-site so that you can enjoy some delicious food before or after the event activities. The gift shop will be open, offering a selection of unique gifts or that perfect stocking stuffer! Registration is required for Walkin’ in a Winter Wonderland.
