Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland - Dec. 7
This holiday season take an evening stroll through our winter wonderland! The nearly 500 luminaries will light your way along the wooded trails, allowing for a peaceful winter’s night in nature. As you hike along the illuminated trail toward the Log House historical area, you will enjoy the crisp air, the bright stars, and perhaps the light crunch of snow on this early December evening. Around the Log House, listen to music of Christmas past as you relax in the comforts of the 18th century. Enjoy a warm drink and snack while you warm up by the campfire and visit with the Parks’ Director. The Nature Center will host a craft by the Greenville DAR as well as gingerbread cookie decorating. The gift shop will be open, offering a selection of unique gifts or that perfect stocking stuffer! Don’t forget to visit with Santa as he will once again be paying us a visit from the North Pole!
New for 2019: Registration is required this year to allow us to accommodate all during this popular evening event. All parking will take place at our walk-in parking entrance, located at 130 Winchester Ave. Participants may enjoy a slightly longer luminary walk or enjoy a winter’s wagon ride transporting you from the new parking location along a new luminary-lit route. Handicap parking will be available at the Nature Center.
Regional Collaboration: This year, if you attend BOTH Bear’s Mill Candlelight Open House (Dec. 6) as well as Darke County Parks’ Walkin’ in a Winter Wonderland (Dec. 7), you can receive a coupon good for 20% off at the Nature Center’s gift shop and 10% off at the Bear’s Mill gift shop. You must obtain a stamped attendance card at both events to be eligible for the coupon.
